Youth Hunts

The Camp Atterbury Youth Hunt Program was established in 2011 with only a couple club members working to organize hunts for just a handful of youth hunters. It has since grown into something more than just a hunt, with participation numbers more than tripling over the past few years, the Camp Atterbury Youth Hunt Program felt it would be beneficial to implement a hunt committee. In 2020 the committee was assembled, and now collectively arranges hunts, activities, meals and prizes for all participating youth hunters and their guardian. This program allows hunting opportunities for eligible youth hunters in both the spring youth turkey season and fall youth deer season. Historically, these hunts have proven to have high success rates and offer great opportunities to harvest a trophy of a lifetime.

Youth Hunt Mission

Our mission to provide safe and memorable hunting opportunities for all youth hunters while showing them ethical and responsible hunting practices along the way.  We are committed to push these young hunters into becoming long term ethical sportsmen, responsible gun owners as well as stewards of wildlife conservation by showing them the best experiences possible in one of the longest running traditions of our great country.

How to Apply

Applications for both the youth deer and turkey hunts can be found on the Atterbury-Muscatatuck Isportsman website https://atterbury.isportsman.net/.
Application submission and deadline dates will also be posted once determined.

What to Expect

  • Once the hunters have been selected to participate in a youth hunting event, the sponsoring person(s) of the youth will receive an email approximately two weeks prior to the hunt date. This email will include all information needed leading up to the day of the hunt.
  • The morning of the hunt, hunters and guests are required to check-in through the hunt desk as well as iSportsman. Once check-in is complete, hunt team locations will be marked on the map to maximize safety and enjoyment during the hunt. The hunt map will be monitored by our staff in an effort to minimize overlap as hunt teams change locations throughout the day.
  • Everyone will be greeted with a small breakfast to start the day, followed by a safety briefing prior to going down range. Lunch will be provided around noon each day of the hunt. This mid-day downtime typically results in good food, great stories, and some time for the kids to interact, play games and just be kids.
  • At the end of each day, all hunters and guests are required to check-out through the hunt desk as well as iSportsman prior to their departure.
  • Our number one goal will always be safety, however spending quality time in the outdoors, and introducing young hunters to the sport is something we are passionate about.
